Managing proof: LiveSync

LiveSync allows you to automatically and continually import proof into Hyperproof. The goal of LiveSync is to ensure that proof in Hyperproof is up-to-date and in sync with proof that you have stored in an external cloud service.

When LiveSync is turned on, Hyperproof imports a new version of your file(s) any time a change is made to the source file. Proof imported by LiveSync is a copy of the file in the external storage provider, such as Google Drive or Dropbox, and any restricted permissions on the original file do not apply in Hyperproof. Any user in your organization who has access to an object, e.g. a control or label, is able to view proof linked to the object regardless of LiveSync status.

For more information see, Using LiveSync and Turning off LiveSync.

What's the difference between a LiveSync and a Hypersync?

A LiveSync and a Hypersync are similar because they both collect evidence or proof, but how they go about collecting that proof is different. Review the table below to compare LiveSync and Hypersync features.

Hypersync features

Copies files or folders from supported cloud storage systems.

Collects data from many sources and converts it to PDF or XLSX format, including:

  • Cloud providers

  • Developer tools

  • Vulnerability scanners

  • Identity systems

  • And more

See Using Hypersyncs and Hypersync overview.

Checks for new proof once a day.

Checks for new proof on a user-specified schedule.

  • Every day

  • Once a week

  • Once a month

No method for testing proof.

Tests proof using automated control testing.

See Automated control testing.

Proof files retain the file format they had in the cloud storage location.

Proof files are generated in either PDF or XLSX format.

Each LiveSync user must create their own connection to the cloud storage system.

Hypersync users can share connections.

See Login methods.

Trigger proof collection by opening the most recently collected piece of proof in the Proof viewer and clicking Sync Now.

Trigger proof collection by navigating to the Automations tab of a control or label, and selecting Sync now from the ... (More) menu on the Hypersync tile.
