Linking controls

Controls can be linked to: tasks, repeating tasks, programs, requirements, evaluations, issues, labels, risks, and vendors.

  • Do one of the following:

    • If linking to a program - Open the program, and then select the Controls tab. Click Import controls.

    • If linking to a requirement - Open the program, and then select the Requirements tab. Select the requirement. In the right pane, click Link controls. The Link additional controls window opens. Locate the control you want to link, and then click Link selected controls.

    • If linking to an evaluation - Open the evaluation, scroll to Linked Objects, and then click the arrow next to the Link button. Select either Link New or Link Existing.

      If you select Link New, the Create New window opens. Select control from the drop-down menu, name it, and then click Create. If you select Link Existing, the Link Objects window opens. Select the object or objects you want to link and then click Link.

    • If linking to an issue - Open the issue, scroll to Affected Objects, and then click the arrow next to the Link button. Select either Link New or Link Existing.

      If you select Link New, the Create New window opens. Select control from the drop-down menu, name it, and then click Create. If you select Link Existing, the Link Objects window opens. Select the object or objects you want to link and then click Link.

    • If linking to a label - Open the control that you want to link to the label. Select the Labels tab. Click Add labels. The Add labels window opens. Select the label you want to link, and then click Confirm.

    • If linking to a risk - Open the risk, and click the arrow next to the Link button. Select either Link New or Link Existing.

      If you select Link New, the Create New window opens. Select control from the drop-down menu, name it, and then click Create. If you select Link Existing, the Link Objects window opens. Select the object or objects you want to link and then click Link.

    • If linking to a vendor - See Linking and unlinking controls for a vendor for additional information.

    • If linking to a task or a repeating task - Open the control that you want to link to the task or repeating task. Create the task. The task is automatically linked to the control.
